Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted several updates on her social media account, ranging from condolences for a local loss to concerns over aviation safety and participation in a community coat drive.
On November 7, 2025, Scholten expressed her condolences regarding the death of Marshawn Kneeland, a figure from West Michigan. She wrote, "Heartbroken to learn of the passing of West Michigan's own Marshawn Kneeland. I'm praying for his family during this difficult time."
The following day, on November 8, she addressed an issue involving the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and its leadership. Scholten stated, "This is unprecedented. Sec. Duffy and the FAA must be transparent about this decision and explain how this will impact our aviation efficiency and safety. It’s long past time to open the government. We’re losing important progress my @TransportDems colleagues have made to".
Later that same day, Scholten shared her experience at a local charity event in collaboration with radio hosts Big Joe & Laura and Mix 95.7 FM: "Always a joy to be with Big Joe & Laura and the Mix 95.7 crew to collect coats for their annual coat drive. As the weather turns cold, our neighbors deserve to have a winter jacket to keep them warm."
Hillary Scholten has represented Michigan’s 3rd district since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer as its congressional representative (https://www.house.gov/representatives). Born in Grand Rapids in 1982, she continues to reside there today while serving in Congress. Her educational background includes graduating from Gordon College with a BA in 2004 and earning her JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2011.
