The Ferris State University men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 8, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Teams from the Great Lakes Valley Conference, Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and Great Midwest Athletic Conference will participate in the regional event. The competition will be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Parkside at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course.
The schedule lists the women's 6K race beginning at 11 a.m. Eastern Time and the men's 10K starting at 12:15 p.m. Eastern Time.
Qualification for the NCAA II National Championships, scheduled for November 22 in Kenosha, will be determined at this meet. The top three teams from each race will advance automatically to nationals. Additionally, the top two individuals not on an advancing team—or any individual among the top five not already qualified—will secure spots at nationals as well. Other teams and individuals must wait to learn if they receive one of ten national at-large team bids or one of eight individual at-large bids.
Schools from eight states—Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Wisconsin—will be represented at this year's regional meet.
The Bulldog men's team has advanced to national championships twice since 2012 after ending a long gap since their last appearance in 1985. In their most recent qualification out of regionals, they finished tenth nationally and placed seventh regionally in 2014. The women's team has reached NCAA-II Nationals five times over the past seventeen years with strong showings at previous Midwest Regionals.
"The Ferris State men's and women's cross country teams are guided by former Bulldog standout and local native Jared Kelsh."
