Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, addressed constituents on social media about health insurance enrollment and the impact of a government shutdown.
On November 1, 2025, Scholten informed West Michigan residents about the start of the health insurance plan selection period for 2026. She wrote, "West Michigan, if you get your health insurance from https://t.co/F0vzLCy9sN, today you can begin selecting plans for your 2026 coverage and comparing rates. I’ve heard from so many of you who are facing difficult financial decisions due to the skyrocketing costs of health care," in a post dated November 1, 2025.
In a follow-up message posted on the same day, Scholten encouraged constituents to share their experiences with her office: "Submit your story at the link below to share with Team Scholten how you are managing through this challenging time. I’ll never stop fighting to keep your health care costs affordable, West Michigan. https://t.co/cgTC4OyZXF"
Later that week, Scholten reported on her outreach efforts amid ongoing federal disruptions. On November 2, 2025, she stated: "This week, I held mobile office hours in Muskegon and East Grand Rapids to hear from my neighbors about how the government shutdown is impacting them. I’ll never stop working for all of you, West Michigan. https://t.co/o7sjdO7l2P"
Scholten has represented Michigan’s 3rd District since replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and currently residing there, she holds degrees from Gordon College and the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
