The Ferris State University men's golf team finished its fall season by placing 14th at the Citrus Intercollegiate, held at Championsgate Golf Club in Championsgate, Florida. The tournament, hosted by Nova Southeastern, featured a competitive field that included 11 nationally-ranked teams. Florida Southern, ranked sixth nationally, won the event with a team total of 850. Barry (Fla.) secured second place with a score of 855, and Embry-Riddle (Fla.) finished third at 868.
Ferris State, currently ranked 42nd in the nation, recorded scores of 309 in the first round, 299 in the second round, and 297 in the final round for an overall team score of 905 over three rounds.
Ben Miller led Ferris State by tying for 39th place individually with a nine-over-par total of 225. Miller posted rounds of 76, 73, and 76. Kole Putnam matched Miller’s performance to also tie for 39th after shooting consecutive rounds of 76 followed by a final-round score of 73.
Sam Havey and Ethan Frost both tied for 65th place with three-round totals of 232. Havey shot scores of 80, 75, and 77 across the three days. Frost opened with a round of 78, followed by an 83 before improving to shoot a final-round score of 71.
Michael Fenech rounded out the Bulldogs’ lineup by tying for 68th place at a total score of 234 after rounds of 79, 75, and an ending round of 80.
The tournament marked the end of Ferris State's fall schedule under head coach Sam Stark. The team will return to competition in March when it begins its spring season and prepares for both GLIAC and NCAA postseason championships.
