Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, highlighted several community and environmental initiatives in a series of posts on August 18, 2025.

In one post from August 18, Scholten celebrated the opening of a new health facility: "Catherine’s Health is an incredible health center in our West Michigan community, and I was honored to help with the ribbon-cutting of their new facility on the Harrison Park Academy campus. Let’s continue to expand access to health care for ALL of our neighbors."

Later that day, Scholten shared her visit to a local manufacturing company: "It was great to visit Paragon D&E, a family-owned, industry-leading machine specialty manufacturing firm based here in West Michigan. With innovation from companies like Paragon, Michigan is well-positioned to lead in the strategic manufacturing competition on a global scale." The congresswoman noted the role of local businesses in advancing Michigan's position in global manufacturing.

In another post from August 18, Scholten addressed environmental concerns affecting local ecosystems: "It’s time to do AWAY with the LAMPREYS. They’re killing our fish and decimating our ecosystems. That’s why we’re celebrating $2.1 million in grant dollars secured for the Great Lakes Fishery Commission to control sea lamprey in Lake Michigan–right here in Grand Rapids."

Scholten has served as U.S. Representative for Michigan's 3rd District since replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. She was born and currently resides in Grand Rapids and holds degrees from Gordon College and the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
