Hillary Scholten highlights community events and Social Security advocacy in West Michigan

Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts highlighting her community engagements and advocacy efforts.

On August 15, 2025, Scholten posted about attending an event with AARP Michigan to mark Social Security's milestone anniversary. She wrote, "Nothing quite like an ice cream social with @AARPMichigan to celebrate 90 years of Social Security! We must continue working to protect the Social Security benefits that Americans work their entire lives to earn."

Later that day, she shared details about her activities in her district. In a post dated August 15, 2025, Scholten stated, "A busy day in West Michigan is my favorite type of day! Tag along with me for a day in my life, traveling around MI-03."

In another tweet on August 15, 2025, she expressed appreciation for local infrastructure management. Scholten said, "Managing our community’s sewer authorities is a deeply important job. Thanks to the folks at the North Kent Sewer Authority for an informative tour to learn more about your work!"

Scholten has served as the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 3rd District since replacing Peter Meijer in 2023. She was born and currently resides in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her educational background includes a BA from Gordon College and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
