Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on her ongoing support for educators, upcoming community events, and women’s health initiatives through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On August 12, 2025, Scholten addressed challenges facing educators in Michigan after changes to federal education policy: "Our educators are facing tons of instability after Trump gutted the Department of Education, but @GovWhitmer, MI Senate Majority Leader Brinks, and I are rock steady in our support for Michigan’s teachers and public schools. It was great to visit teachers at the Gerald Ford".
Later that day, she announced an upcoming event aimed at community engagement: "I’m excited to host the next town hall in my Summer Town Hall Series next Wednesday, August 20th in Wyoming! I hope to see you there. For more info and to RSVP, visit https://t.co/x1W5wglsGT."
On August 13, Scholten highlighted her involvement in a women’s health initiative: "Women’s health isn’t taboo. But let me tell ya, it sure feels that way sometimes! I think it’s safe to say, I’m the first West Michigan member of Congress to kick off a menopause event! So proud to join Sen. Brinks and the MI Women's Commission for the Menopause: It’s A".
Scholten has served as the representative for Michigan's 3rd District since 2023. She succeeded Peter Meijer following his term in office. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and currently residing there at age 41, Scholten holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
