Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on social media regarding service academy nominations, proposed legislation on labor statistics, and community resources for students.
On August 7, Scholten posted about her office's ongoing support for local youth seeking to attend national service academies: “It’s an honor to help send young West Michiganders off to our nation’s service academies every year, and my office is now accepting applications for 2025 Service Academy Nominations.

The following day, she addressed concerns over political interference in federal labor data collection: “Politically motivated firings aren’t just bad for democracy — they’re bad for the economy. When we don’t have reliable data about labor and jobs, American families pay the price.
I’m proud to introduce a bill that would bar the President from firing the Commissioner of Labor https://t.co/F1CNLzW0va”
On August 9, Scholten highlighted local initiatives supporting students as the school year approaches: “The first day of school is right around the corner, West Michigan, and there are many great opportunities to receive school supplies if your family is in need of them. Check out some happening in our community here! https://t.co/cxtKSKpy7K”
Hillary Scholten has served as U.S. Representative since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Scholten holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
