Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media highlighting her positions on federal programs and small business support.

On July 30, 2025, Scholten addressed recent legislative actions regarding Medicare and Medicaid. She stated, "For 60 years, Medicare and Medicaid have been a lifeline for more than 15 million Americans. But House Republicans voted to slash this lifeline for seniors, families, veterans, and people with disabilities. We should be strengthening Medicare and Medicaid, not ripping care away."

The following day, July 31, she recognized the anniversary of the Small Business Administration (SBA) and expressed her commitment to supporting entrepreneurs. In her post she wrote: "Since 1953, @SBAgov has been supporting small business owners pursuing the American Dream. As a member of @HSBCDems, I’m determined to advocate for our entrepreneurs and ensure that they have the support they need to thrive. Happy Anniversary, SBA!"

Later that same day, Scholten commented on proposed changes to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) funding: "The science is clear: high-quality, nutritious food is crucial for a healthy life, and SNAP is a lifeline to making this food accessible. However, my Republican colleagues voted to slash SNAP funding for millions of Americans, and the consequences could be devastating for"

Hillary Scholten began serving as the representative for Michigan's 3rd District in 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and currently residing there at age 41, Scholten holds degrees from Gordon College (BA) and the University of Maryland Baltimore (JD).
