Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has addressed a range of topics in recent social media posts, including calls for government transparency, legislative debates, and concerns over rising consumer prices.
On July 18, 2025, Scholten posted on her official account: "The American people deserve to know the truth — the WHOLE truth — not just a few “pertinent” files hand-selected by Trump and his Justice Department. We will continue to put the pressure on until the full Epstein files are released." She emphasized the need for full disclosure of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and criticized selective releases under former President Trump’s administration.
Later that day, Scholten commented on legislative discourse surrounding H.R. 1: "What’s true and what’s a myth in H.R. 1? My Republican colleagues may not want you to know the truth. Let’s change that. In this week’s episode of Straight Talk With Scholten, I dispel some of the myths being spread about H.R. 1 and dive deep into how it’ll impact you at home." The post referenced her efforts to clarify public understanding of legislation under debate.
On July 19, 2025, Scholten addressed economic concerns in a tweet about food prices: "My family loves having a backyard barbecue in the summer, but beef is getting more and more expensive at the grocery store, and the prices aren’t going down anytime soon. It’s time we invest in our agriculture community. Instead, President Trump has instituted chaotic tariffs". Here she linked rising beef prices to agricultural policy decisions and tariffs enacted during Trump’s presidency.
Scholten began representing Michigan's 3rd district in Congress after succeeding Peter Meijer in 2023. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982, she continues to reside there with her family. She holds degrees from Gordon College (BA) and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (JD).
