Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who has represented Michigan’s 3rd District in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently addressed several key issues through a series of posts on social media. Scholten, a Grand Rapids native and former attorney, focused her updates on local youth programs, airport infrastructure funding, and recent federal legislation.
On July 12, 2025, Scholten highlighted concerns about potential reductions in federal funding for community organizations. She stated: "Our children are our future, and we must do everything we can to invest in their success. With the threat of crucial federal funding being stripped away, it was great to sit down with leaders from the Muskegon Boys and Girls Club to discuss how I could support their operations."
Later that day, on July 12, 2025, Scholten announced new federal support for local transportation infrastructure. She wrote: "I’m proud to secure nearly $2.4 million for @FlyGRFord to improve airport safety, extend the life of essential taxiway infrastructure, and help GRR keep pace with growing demand."
On July 13, 2025, Scholten addressed legislative developments at the national level. She commented: "Republicans in Congress and President Trump passed the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” and it’s about time we tell the truth about what’s REALLY in the text of the legislation."
Hillary Scholten succeeded Peter Meijer as representative of Michigan's 3rd District in 2023. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and currently residing there, she holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
