Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who has been serving Michigan’s 3rd district since 2023, recently shared her views and activities on social media. Representing the region in Congress, she has been active in addressing legislative issues and community matters.

On July 10, 2025, Scholten criticized a Republican legislative proposal by stating "Republicans’ so-called 'Big, Beautiful Bill' is anything BUT big and beautiful. It’s bad accounting, bad policy, and bad for West Michigan." She mentioned hosting a virtual discussion with Michigan Senator McCann and Representative Glanville to deliberate on the potential negative impacts of this bill on West Michigan.

Later that day, Scholten highlighted her participation in a ceremony honoring Beverly Brown's family legacy. She noted "I was honored to present my constituent, Beverly Brown, with her late grandfather’s military medal from his service during World War I." Brown's grandfather, Benjamin “Ben” Johnson served as a private in the United States Army from 1918 to 1919.

In another tweet posted shortly after, Scholten addressed an error regarding the issuance of military honors. She explained that "Ms. Brown was originally issued the incorrect medal", but once informed of the mistake, Team Scholten took immediate action to rectify it. Scholten also extended an offer of assistance to anyone needing help with federal agencies.

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and holds degrees from Gordon College and the University of Maryland. Since replacing Peter Meijer in Congress in 2023, she continues to engage actively with constituents on various issues affecting her district.
