Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd district since 2023, has recently addressed several pressing issues through her social media platform. Her tweets highlight her concerns and actions regarding the ongoing floods in Texas, funding for the Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS), and support for individuals with disabilities.

On July 7, 2025, Scholten acknowledged the efforts of Coast Guard personnel amid severe flooding in Texas. She expressed gratitude by stating, "Coasties like Scott Ruskin are the best of us. Thank you to everyone working day and night to rescue as many folks as possible from the devastating floods in Texas."

The following day, on July 8, 2025, Scholten addressed administrative delays affecting funding for GLOS. She emphasized its importance by tweeting, "The Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) is integral to supporting Great Lakes communities to safeguard residents and local economies, but administrative delays at OMB are putting GLOS funding at risk." Scholten urged the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to approve NOAA's plan to ensure continued support for GLOS.

On July 9, 2025, Scholten visited David’s House Ministries and highlighted potential impacts of recent policy changes on Medicaid. She noted her visit by stating, "Great to tour the new home of David’s House Ministries, where our adult neighbors with disabilities can live full lives with the support they deserve." She further criticized Republican-led Medicaid cuts that threaten essential services for residents reliant on this support.

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1982 and continues to reside there. She graduated from Gordon College in 2004 with a BA and earned a JD from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2011.
