Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan’s 3rd district since 2023, has recently shared several updates on her legislative and political activities through social media. Her tweets reflect her focus on infrastructure, immigration policy, and reactions to political violence.

On June 13, 2025, Scholten announced her leadership role in three bills aimed at enhancing road safety for children, bolstering rural infrastructure, and supporting American industry. She expressed her enthusiasm for advancing these initiatives by stating "Proud to announce 3 bills I’m leading in @TransportDems that would make roads safer for kids, strengthen rural infrastructure, and support American industry."

Later the same day, Scholten addressed issues related to the U.S. immigration system. She criticized the Trump Administration's approach by highlighting its decision to deploy military forces in Los Angeles as a response to immigration challenges. In her tweet from June 13, she noted "Don’t get me wrong: I know our immigration system is broken." She elaborated on this perspective during an episode of "Straight Talk With Scholten."

The following day, June 14, Scholten reacted to a tragic incident involving the assassination of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband and the shooting of Senator John Hoffman and his wife. Expressing deep concern over the event's implications for democracy, she stated "I'm horrified and heartbroken by the politically motivated assassination of former Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman."

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1982. She completed her undergraduate studies at Gordon College in 2004 before earning a JD from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2011.
