Hillary Scholten addresses Eid celebrations, gun violence, and education funding

Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd district since 2023, has shared several messages on social media that reflect her current priorities and sentiments. Her recent communications include well-wishes for a religious celebration, a call to action against gun violence, and criticism of legislative measures.

On June 6, 2025, Congresswoman Scholten expressed her greetings to those celebrating Eid al-Adha in Michigan's 3rd district. She conveyed her wishes by stating "Wishing all who are celebrating in MI-03 a blessed Eid al-Adha!".

Later the same day, she addressed the issue of gun violence with an emphasis on remembrance and prevention. Scholten wrote "Today and every day, we honor the lives lost to senseless gun violence and continue working to prevent future tragedies. For our kids, for our communities, for our nation: let’s #EndGunViolence once and for all. #WearOrangeDay".

In another post dated June 6, 2025, Congresswoman Scholten criticized a Republican bill she referred to as the “Big, Beautiful” betrayal. She highlighted its potential negative impact on education and workforce sectors. Scholten mentioned that this week they are discussing the ramifications of significant cuts proposed by the bill through @EdWorkforceDems and noted "Here’s a hint: it’s going to be bad."

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1982 and continues to reside there today. She holds degrees from Gordon College and the University of Maryland.
