Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan’s 3rd district, recently shared her ongoing efforts in Washington through a series of tweets. Scholten, who took office in 2023 succeeding Peter Meijer, is focused on healthcare issues and regional infrastructure needs.

On May 14, 2025, Scholten tweeted about her commitment to protecting Medicaid. She stated: "I’m back in Washington working for you, West Michigan. We have lots of work to do to try and protect Medicaid from being ripped away from millions of Americans who depend on it."

Later that day, she highlighted the importance of mental health care services by praising local efforts. In her tweet at 23:58 UTC, she wrote: "Mental health care IS health care, and @namiofmi is doing incredible work to expand access to mental health care for Michiganders. Great to speak with their Executive Director, Kevin Fischer, as I fight to ensure crucial health services are protected for those who need them."

The following day on May 15th at 00:59 UTC, Scholten addressed the need for regional infrastructure improvements concerning the U.S. Coast Guard's resources. She remarked: "Ma'am, if we're giving money to @USCG, we need an Ice Breaker for the Great Lakes."

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and holds degrees from Gordon College and the University of Maryland. She has been active in Congress since replacing Peter Meijer.
