Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd district since 2023, has recently shared insights into her work and advocacy through a series of tweets. These messages cover topics ranging from labor meetings to healthcare funding debates.

On May 9, 2025, Scholten expressed her commitment to rail safety in a tweet stating " Workin' on the railroad — but make it UNION! Thanks to leaders from railroad labor organizations who stopped by my Washington office for a productive meeting about rail safety." She emphasized her role as a member of the Transportation Democrats (@TransportDems) and her dedication to ensuring the safety of passengers, rail workers, and locomotives.

Later that day, she criticized House Republicans' stance on cancer research funding with another tweet: "Waste. Fraud. Abuse. That’s how House Republicans characterize life-saving cancer research." Scholten highlighted that they are moving to cut billions in funding from programs that have been crucial for individuals like Tammy Myers, whom she described as both a constituent and dear friend.

In conjunction with this criticism, Scholten announced an episode of her show "Straight Talk With Scholten," where she plans to address these issues further. In a tweet posted at the same time as the previous one, she stated: "I know better. We’re breaking down the lies on this week's episode of Straight Talk With Scholten." The episode features Tammy Myers discussing what is at stake for those diagnosed with cancer if such funding cuts proceed.

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1982 and currently resides there. She holds a BA from Gordon College (2004) and earned her JD from the University of Maryland in Baltimore (2011).
