Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd district, shared insights on literacy, public service, and healthcare advocacy through a series of tweets on May 8, 2025. Her communications highlighted key community initiatives and personal engagements that underscore her legislative focus.

On May 8, Scholten reflected on the importance of literacy by quoting her mother: “If you can read, you can do ANYTHING!” She extended gratitude to the Literacy Center of West Michigan for their efforts in enhancing literacy opportunities and workforce development for the community, particularly benefiting immigrant and refugee families.

Later that day, Scholten addressed concerns regarding recent terminations of federal workers under Trump and Musk. In a tweet posted at 16:12 UTC, she expressed solidarity with civil servants stating: “Civil servants are the quiet force behind the services that hold our communities together...” Scholten took to the House floor to honor Public Service Recognition Week amidst these fears.

In another post at 19:47 UTC, Scholten announced an upcoming episode of her podcast featuring Tammy Myers, a breast cancer survivor and Medicaid advocate. She invited followers to “TUNE IN THIS WEEK” for this significant conversation on "Straight Talk With Scholten."

Hillary Scholten has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. Born in Grand Rapids in 1982, she graduated from Gordon College with a BA in 2004 and later earned a JD from the University of Maryland in Baltimore in 2011.
