Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd district since 2023, has been vocal on social media regarding recent political developments. Her posts focus on budgetary issues and community projects.

On May 3, 2025, Scholten expressed her opposition to President Trump's FY2026 budget proposal, which suggests cuts to the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). She stated, "President Trump’s FY2026 budget proposes cutting LIHEAP — a program that helps West Michiganders pay their utility bills without sacrificing other necessities." Scholten emphasized her support for fully funding LIHEAP and urged her Republican colleagues to do the same.

Later that day, Scholten highlighted her involvement in securing an $850k grant for the new headquarters of the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (WMHCC). She participated in the groundbreaking ceremony for this facility. In her tweet she remarked on this achievement as a "full circle moment," adding "The new state-of-the-art HQ is a huge upgrade from the former building."

On May 4, 2025, Scholten addressed concerns over proposed Medicaid cuts in the Republican budget. She tweeted passionately about defending Medicaid beneficiaries: "We ARE better than this. We DON’T have to sweep the rug out from under millions of Americans who rely on Medicaid to survive." She invited constituents facing healthcare risks due to these proposed cuts to reach out.

Hillary Scholten was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1982 and currently resides there. She holds a BA from Gordon College and a JD from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
