Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who has been serving Michigan’s 3rd district since 2023, recently shared updates on her activities via Twitter, elaborating on local achievements and initiatives. Scholten, a Grand Rapids native and a Gordon College and University of Maryland alumnus, continues to engage with community issues and achievements.

On April 22, 2025, Scholten celebrated the achievement of Phil the Penguin from John Ball Zoo. In her post, she extended her congratulations, stating, "Congrats to Phil the Penguin from our very own John Ball Zoo who won World's Most Popular Penguin!". She also acknowledged the efforts of the zoo's team in conservation and providing a world-class experience in West Michigan.

On the following day, April 23, Scholten discussed her meeting with Ada Congregational Church members. She described the discussion about the role of Medicaid and SNAP in supporting their ministry, noting, "Had a great meeting today with members of Ada Congregational Church to discuss how Medicaid and SNAP support their ministry and mission." She praised the church's 175-year legacy of care and community support.

Later on the same day, Scholten took a moment to express gratitude to her team in the Grand Rapids office, particularly the spring intern cohort, stating in her words, "Thank you to our spring intern cohort in my Grand Rapids office for all of your hard work!".

Hillary Scholten now resides in Grand Rapids and continues to focus her efforts on community development and support as part of her Congressional duties.
