Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd District since 2023, shared a series of tweets addressing issues crucial to her constituency and the nation. Her statements focused on critical topics such as Black maternal health, fiscal responsibility in government spending, and appreciation for young public service contributors.

On April 11, 2025, Scholten highlighted the maternal mortality crisis, stating, "Black Mamas are 3x more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than white women, and many of these tragic deaths are preventable. This Black Maternal Health Week, we recommit ourselves to fighting the maternal mortality crisis facing Black women in our country." Her comments come during Black Maternal Health Week, emphasizing the commitment to addressing health disparities.

Later that day, Scholten expressed concerns over government spending priorities in another tweet, asserting, "I’m all for spending taxpayer dollars responsibly, but that’s not what DOGE and the Trump Administration are prioritizing. Just last month, more than $16 million in funding for a crucial project at @FlyGRFord was on hold indefinitely, potentially risking jobs and costing." Here, she criticized the use of taxpayer dollars and highlighted the potential job risk due to paused funding for an airport project.

Finally, Scholten expressed gratitude towards interns serving in her Washington D.C. office, including Marlie, Kendall, and Teuma. On April 11, 2025, she tweeted, "Thanks to our Spring intern cohort from our Washington D.C. office, Marlie, Kendall, and Teuma. West Michigan is grateful for your public service!" This acknowledgement reflects her appreciation for those contributing to government service.

Scholten, who was born and raised in Grand Rapids, Michigan, succeeded Peter Meijer in Congress. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Gordon College and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
