Hillary Scholten, serving as a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 3rd district, has made several noteworthy observations in recent tweets. Scholten, who succeeded Peter Meijer in 2023, has used her platform to address issues relating to the Great Lakes, her firsthand experiences as a congresswoman, and women's advocacy.

In a tweet from March 26, 2025, Scholten highlighted the efforts of the Great Lakes coalition in tackling job cuts at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service during the Trump Administration, referencing a successful pushback against these actions. Scholten stated, "Our Great Lakes coalition made WAVES. When the Trump Administration and DOGE slashed jobs at @USFWS, I joined with @RepDebDingell and called out how dangerous this would be for the Great Lakes as we fight the invasive sea lamprey. It worked." Her tweet suggests that these efforts have led to a positive outcome regarding federal support.

Later that same evening, Scholten shared her insights on the future generation's role, as evidenced by a meeting with young leaders from Byron Center High School. In her tweet, "As the first mom to represent West Michigan in Congress, I know this for sure: our kids are our future. Thanks to the young leaders from Byron Center High School who were in Washington today to share their ideas, experiences, and stories with me.", she expressed gratitude to these students for their engagement and contributions to societal dialogues.

On March 27, 2025, Scholten focused on recognizing women's contributions in conjunction with Women's History Month. She tweeted about leading a group of Democratic Women’s Caucus colleagues to the House floor to celebrate influential women. Scholten posted, "As Women’s History Month nears a close, I led a group of @DemWomenCaucus colleagues to the House floor to highlight women who inspire us and share stories of women in our district whom we’re fighting for." This move was portrayed as part of an ongoing commitment to advocate for women nationwide.
