Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan's 3rd District, has recently shared her views on economic and educational issues through a series of tweets. Scholten, who succeeded Peter Meijer in Congress in 2023, has been actively engaging with her constituents on topics ranging from tariffs to technological advancements and community education.

On March 12, 2025, Scholten expressed concerns about the current administration's tariff strategy. She noted that while tariffs can be beneficial when used strategically, the approach taken by former President Trump was causing uncertainty. "Tariffs have a place in our economy when they’re strategic and targeted — that’s not what Trump is doing," she stated. Scholten highlighted the impact these tariffs are having on West Michiganders.

In a tweet dated March 13, 2025, Scholten emphasized the importance of domestic semiconductor production for maintaining a competitive edge in global technology markets. She shared her recent meeting with leaders from HSC Poly, a Michigan-based company known as the only U.S. producer of hyper-pure polysilicon. "The more semiconductors we produce here at home, the greater our advantage in cutting-edge technologies becomes worldwide," she remarked.

Also on March 13, 2025, Scholten participated in an event organized by The Committee to Honor Cesar E. Chavez. She praised their efforts to enhance educational opportunities for Latino community members and expressed pride in marching alongside them to support their mission. "The Committee to Honor Cesar E. Chavez is doing incredible work to expand educational opportunities for members of our Latino community," she tweeted.
