Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, representing Michigan’s 3rd District, shared her views on affordable housing and women's role in the military through a series of tweets. Scholten, who has been serving in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer, is known for her advocacy on social issues.

On January 24, 2025, Scholten emphasized the importance of affordable housing as essential for community growth. She stated, "Affordable housing is the bedrock upon which our diverse communities are able to grow and flourish." She hosted Pat Combs, a leader in local real estate, to discuss increasing access to affordable housing in Michigan's 3rd District.

In another tweet posted later that day, she commemorated an important milestone for women servicemembers. On January 24th of that year, she wrote about the significance of women being allowed to enter direct combat roles starting in 2013. Scholten expressed gratitude by saying "I thank the servicewomen that have and are fighting for our freedom."

Following this post on the same date, Scholten addressed ongoing discussions regarding gender equality within the military. She affirmed her stance by stating "And no matter what the current nominee for Defense Secretary believes, women service members belong in our military just as much as men do."
