Next neighbor engagement and Commission Night Out meetings set

City Commission to seek resident input October 18 and November 1

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The City of Grand Rapids is announcing details of its next neighbor engagement sessions and City Commission Night Out (CNO) meetings. Resident engagement and Commission Night Outs will be held Tuesdays on October 18 (Third Ward) and November 1 (Second Ward).

  • October 18 – Gerald R. Ford Academic Center, 851 Madison Ave. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49507
  • November 1 – GRPS University, 1400 Fuller Ave. NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49505
Doors open at 5 p.m. with City information tables from a variety of City departments and offices. Food and beverages will be provided. Each official City Commission meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. with an organized facilitated discussion session followed by the business portion of the meeting at 7 p.m.

City staff use the quantitative results from the recent 2022 National Community Survey™ (NCS™) as the basis for conversations with residents and community members at the engagement sessions. Results of Grand Rapids’ NCS™ show that residents continue to believe Grand Rapids offers a favorable quality of life, but also highlight areas for improvement.

A 21-page report of the feedback garnered from residents at the August 23 CNO at Sibley Elementary in the First Ward is available at https://www.grandrapidsmi.gov/Government/Programs-and-Initiatives/National-Community-Survey#engagement_feedback.

The business portions of the City Commission meetings will air on Comcast Channel 26 and be live streamed on the City of Grand Rapids Facebook page and YouTube channel.
