The Kent County Health Department recently announced West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes trapped in Kent County testing pools.
While not human cases, the discovery is a good reminder for West Michigan residents to take steps to prevent mosquito bites, such as:
- Apply mosquito repellent containing 10%-35% DEET.
- Wear light-colored clothes.
- Stay indoors after dusk.
- Remove or refresh standing water from your property, where possible.
