Black History Month

Blackhistory 781x500 1200x769

County of Kent issued the following announcement on Feb 28.

In 2017 Wayman Britt became the first Black man to serve as Interim Kent County Administrator/Controller, and was officially  appointed by the Board of Commissioners in 2018 by a unanimous vote. After 17 years serving the people of Kent County, Wayman retired in 2021.

Throughout the years, Kent County has seen growing representation of the Black community on our Board of Commissioners, Court benches, City and Township leadership and County staff. We are fortunate to see diversity in these important local government roles and will continue to foster a diverse workforce that reflects the voices of our community.
