County of Kent issued the following announcement on Dec 22.
As this year comes to a close, we want to thank Kent County Board of Commissioners Chair Mandy Bolter for her leadership over the past three years. In her role as Board Chair, she has lead a bipartisan board of 19 members with an annual budget of approximately $600 million dollars, funding the 25 departments and agencies and approximately 1800 employees.
Officially beginning her service in 2014, Mandy has served on the Convention and Arena Authority Board, the Kent County Community Corrections Advisory Board, the Downtown GRI Advisory Board, the Grand Valley Metro Council, Chairs the Human Services Committee, Chaired the County Legislative and Human Services Committee and served as Vice Chair of the Board of Commissioners for two years prior to be elected as Board Chair in 2019.
Most recently during her time as Board Chair, Mandy was tasked with the critical responsibility of overseeing Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding allocation in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This funding assisted our community during the first phase of the pandemic, including $25 million for the Kent County Small Business Recovery Program, shelter assistance, non-profit assistance, a business personal protection equipment program, and more. In addition, she has been a fierce advocate for advancing animal-friendly laws and regulations and protecting critical funding for our foster care system. She also spearheaded the Lead Action Team to reduce lead exposure for our children.
We thank Mandy for her service as Chair of the Kent County Board of Commissioners and her dedication to making Kent County an even better place to work, live and play. Please join the Board of Commissioners on January 3 for an organizational meeting to determine its leadership positions for 2022.
