Over the course of the past year, there has been much fuss about the transition to online learning, which was a necessity born out of the coronavirus pandemic that shocked the world.

However, the transition hasn't been necessarily a nightmare for everyone.

In fact, much innovation and opportunity has been derived from the need to switch to online learning, and with the right tools, some parents have found online learning to be highly effective and well-suited to their needs and the needs of their child.

One such example is Melissa Dodge and her two children, Grace and Charlotte, of Michigan. Grace and Charlotte are each 10 years old and in fourth grade, and they each had to learn to transition to online learning in a short period of time. Studies show that online learning, when done incorrectly, can be ineffective and challenging for some students.

Knowing this, Melissa was determined to find help for her daughters. With a little research, she was able to locate a program called Power Homeschool, which promised to help provide her daughters with the resources that they needed to have success with online learning.

As Melissa quickly found out, Acellus Power Homeschool was able to deliver on these promises. Melissa saw vast improvement for her daughters and they were quickly extracting maximum value out of the remote learning experience.

"I can't suggest Power Homeschool enough," Melissa told the Grand Rapids Reporter. "It’s seamless, helpful, and I completely recommend it. This was our last option and I’m so glad we took it.”

Melissa said that Grace and Charlotte were doing well in public school but struggled with virtual learning when schools closed in-person learning due to COVID-19. A friend recommended Acellus Power Homeschool and Melissa says she noticed results as soon as her daughters started using the program. She said the online program also was able to cater to the different learning styles and paces of Grace and Charlotte.

The program serves children kindergarten through fifth grade and teaches core subjects such as math, language arts, reading, science and social studies. One of the main selling points for Melissa and her children is that the courses are self-paced, meaning students can take their time and learn in a way that suits them. This allows the children to become more acquainted with each subject rather than having to rush through their lessons to satisfy standardized metrics.

The program also provides video-based lessons, class work, exams and reviews that parents can consult. It also allows parents to create a schedule or curriculum of their own and can assess students for learning strengths and weaknesses. Melissa said the personalized schedule feature was a strength, and that the results “compared to other online schools was like night and day.”

When it comes to credibility, Power Homeschool is as reputable as they come. Acellus Academy is fully accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools WASC.

Power Homeschool was able to provide Melissa and her daughters, along with thousands of other families around the world, with the resources that they needed to not only navigate the pandemic safely, but also ensure that children receive a quality education that does not stunt their growth due to being online.
