City of Grandville issued the following announcement on July 1.
Before using any fireworks in Grandville, please review this information about the fireworks ordinance amendment approved by the City Council in 2019. State laws regulating fireworks were changed in December 2018 allowing local units of government to further restrict the total number of days when fireworks use is permitted; and the amended Grandville ordinance restricts fireworks use to the maximum extent allowed by that new State law.
The new ordinance now in effect supersedes previous rules and states no person shall ignite, discharge, or use consumer fireworks in Grandville on any day other than the following days:
• December 31 after 11:00 a.m. and until 1:00 a.m. on January 1
• Saturday or Sunday immediately preceding Memorial Day after 11:00 a.m. and until 11:45 p.m.
• June 29 to July 4 after 11:00 a.m. and until 11:45 p.m. on each of those days
• July 5, IF July 5 is a Friday or Saturday after 11:00 a.m. and until 11:45 p.m.
• Saturday & Sunday immediately preceding Labor Day after 11:00 a.m. and until 11:45 p.m.
Please note the use of fireworks is prohibited on Memorial Day and Labor Day, under the new law.
Reminder: Fireworks may not be used on any public, church or school property without the express permission of the property owner. Public properties include all City parks, the cemetery and other city‐ owned properties.
Fireworks use while under influence of alcohol and/or controlled substances is prohibited.
The law provides substantial penalties for violations, so please be sure your fireworks use in Grandville occurs only on the days listed above.
Please be safe, be considerate of your neighbors, and thank you in advance for your cooperation!
