GRAND RAPIDS AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: From Grand Rapids Police Chief Scott Johnson

Policelightcar

Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 9.

Recently the City has been receiving inquiries from

people stating that they have been hearing rumors that law enforcement in Itasca County has been stopping people, warning them not to be out driving because of the Governor's Executive Order about sheltering in place. I want to

assure you that this is not the case. Grand Rapids Police Officers continue to patrol our city streets and respond to calls. They will stop vehicles for violations of traffic laws and also vehicles whose drivers may be involved in suspicious activities but Itasca County law enforcement officers are not stopping vehicles simply because the occupants are in a vehicle on a city street.
