City of Grandville issued the following announcement on April 2
You may have heard a rumor that 2-1-1 requests your Social Security Number in order to provide resource information. This is not true. Period.
2-1-1 is a free resource, providing information about community services to all people who call. If callers speak languages other than English and Spanish, an interpreter is called in to assist. Some agencies that provide services may have eligibility or documentation requirements, but 2-1-1 does not require this type of information in order to make referrals.
Please spread the word that 2-1-1 is a safe place to call for anyone in need of assistance!
