GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – Registration is now open to attend the 2024 Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit. Celebrating its tenth year, the Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit encourages community members to join fellow Grand Rapidians for a remarkable day-long learning experience focused on resident voice and racial equity.

The free event, Saturday, May 18 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. aims to bring together Grand Rapids residents and stakeholders to learn, strategize, and connect to make our city a more equitable place for all. Grand Valley State University’s Pew Campus, 401 Fulton St. W, will once again host Summit. Summit is family-friendly, offering free childcare for those up to 5 years of age and an interactive program for children 6 to 12 years of age so that parents and guardians can attend and participate in this wonderful day of learning and connecting.

Summit participation is limited and will reach capacity. Register at www.publicinput.com/2024GRSummit. Registration will remain open until Summit capacity is reached.

This year's Summit theme is "Embracing the Power of Tension, Tenacity, & Intentionality." Through engaging workshops, attendees will explore ways to foster belonging and inclusivity by incorporating learnings from the past decade. The Summit will feature an opening keynote presentation, multiple workshop options, lunch and fun activities including a photo booth and community resource tables.

Summit organizers also plan to acknowledge residents for their leadership on Neighborhood Match Fund projects, alongside an Anishinaabe drum presentation, and a Community Celebration to end the day.

Brandon Davis, interim managing director of The Office of Oversight & Public Accountability and The Office of Equity & Engagement, emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusivity at the Summit, stating, "Diversity and inclusivity are key strengths of Summit, as attendees come from different backgrounds and identities. We prioritize partnerships with local BIPOC-owned businesses to promote equity within our community."

Davis also encouraged individuals to participate in the Summit, saying, "If you are interested in improving your neighborhood, networking with some amazing people and broadening your understanding of Grand Rapids and its opportunities, I encourage you to register today to secure your spot at the 2024 Grand Rapids Neighborhood Summit. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity!"
