GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – SpartanNash, in conjunction with the City of Grand Rapids, will be hosting a water bottle distribution event for those affected by the March 17th Boil Water Advisory. According to the announcement by SpartanNash and the City of Grand Rapids, "Impacted residents will be provided one (1) case of water per vehicle." The event will take place this evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 1635 Leonard St. NE, with drivers asked to follow instructions and temporary signs as they access the distribution point. "Please be patient and follow staff instructions and temporary signs," advised the organizers.
On March 17th, the City of Grand Rapids issued a Boil Water Advisory for the area East of US 131 and North of Hall Street due to a water main break near Leonard St. NE and Union Ave. NE. The city has informed that "crews have begun repairs and water pressure has been restored." They further added, "A typical Boil Water Advisory lasts 3-4 days, as we flush the system and sample according to State and Federal requirements once the main break is fixed." Residents in the affected area are reminded that boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice.
The City also mentioned that "another notification will be distributed when the advisory is lifted." Residents are encouraged to visit the city's website for updates and a map of the specific boundaries affected by the Boil Water Advisory. Additionally, the CDC link provided in the announcement offers information on dos and don’ts for staying safe during a Boil Water Advisory.
