CITY OF GRAND RAPIDS: City Offices Closed For 2020 Thanksgiving Holiday

City of Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

Most City of Grand Rapids offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Grand Rapids’ Customer Service Center, located on the Monroe Avenue level of City Hall, will reopen to walk-in service 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30. All other offices are available weekdays by appointment only.

Other service alterations include:

  • Refuse, recycling and yard waste curbside collections will be delayed one day as a result of the holiday. Thursday’s collection will be picked up Friday and Friday’s collection will take place Saturday.
  • The City’s yard waste drop-off site at 2001 Butterworth St. SW will be closed Thanksgiving Day. The site will be open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ (MDHHS) neighborhood COVID-19 testing site at Garfield Park Gym, 2111 Madison Avenue SE, also will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27. Normal hours of testing are offered Thursdays from 3 to 8 p.m., Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • During the MDHHS ‘Pause to Save Lives’ order, all Grand Rapids Public Library branches are closed; however, GRPL To Go curbside service is available at all locations during its current open hours. This service includes both a walk up window and vehicle delivery. Services available include hold pick up, free printing, outdoor WiFi, MelCat, Book Bundles and Storytime Kits, Resume Review service, and library account help/card registration.
