Grand Rapids Chamber issued the following announcement on Oct. 30.
Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced new capacity restrictions on indoor gatherings. Effective immediately, indoor venues without fixed seating must limit gatherings such as weddings, parties, and banquets to no more than 50 people — down from a maximum of 500. Restaurants, bars, and other venues must seat no more than six people at a table. Starting Monday, all dine-in establishments must keep customers’ names and phone numbers for contact-tracing purposes.
This announcement comes as Michigan’s outbreak is worsening. The virus has infected more than 167,500 people in Michigan since March and been linked to nearly 7,260 deaths. The seven-day average of daily positive test rates has been climbing for a month and is now nearing 6%.
