City of Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on June 25.
The City of Grand Rapids’ Parks and Recreation Department will host its fifth summer of free outdoor fitness in parks and public spaces across the community. The dance, cardio and yoga classes will run weekly from July 6 through Aug. 29.
New COVID-19 health and safety guidelines are in place:
- Participants must maintain 6 feet of distance from others outside their household
- Participant limits will be enforced when maximum capacity with proper physical distancing is reached
- Participants must bring their own yoga mat, water bottle and towel if needed
- Masks are not required during fitness sessions but are encouraged when arriving and leaving
- Individuals who are feeling ill should stay home
“The free outdoor fitness series is one of our most popular summer offerings,” said John Judnich, the City’s recreation supervisor. “With the added health and safety measures, we can still support the physical, mental and emotional well-being of community members at a time when it is more important than ever.”
