City of East Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on Sep. 24.
The water main valve has been repaired and crews are now cleaning up the area. There are still trucks on site, but the roads are open to traffic. Please continue to drive carefully through this area as crews work to clear up the water and mud remaining.
ROAD CLOSURE / WATER MAIN REPAIR NOTICE. City Public Works crews are on the scene of a water main leak near the intersection of Boston and Conlon. Please avoid this area if possible as there will be water in the road, barricades, work trucks and open excavations as we work to repair the leak. Homes in the area may experience a loss of water pressure until the main is repaired.
If you live in this area or are picking up children from Breton School, please use caution when driving through this neighborhood and approach/exit the school using Breton Road, if possible.
If you experience any water in your home, please contact the Public Works Department at 616.940.4870. Other inquiries can be directed to Finance Director Karen Mushong at 616.949.2110 or kmushong@eastgr.org.
Crews will remain at the site until the main is repaired.
