Two members of the Ferris State University women's tennis team have advanced to the round of 16 at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships. The event, hosted by Davenport University near Grand Rapids, began on Saturday.
Freshman Madeline Peisley and sophomore Yara Madi each secured two victories in the Flight A singles draw. This achievement marks the first time in more than five years that Ferris State has had two players reach this stage of the tournament.
Both athletes are scheduled to continue competing on Sunday, October 5, as part of day two action.
"It was a fun day on the courts for our Bulldog Tennis squad," said FSU head coach Mark Doren. "We had lots of positives and a few things to work on, but with five of the nine players we had competing today being underclassmen, I'm very happy with how competitive we were."
The winners in both singles and doubles at this regional will qualify for the ITA Small College Cup Championships later in October.
