The Ferris State University women's golf team concluded their fall season by securing a victory at the Bill Crabtree Invitational. The event, held in Owensboro, Kentucky, wrapped up on Monday with Ferris State achieving a two-round team score of 612, finishing six strokes ahead of runner-up Maryville at The Pearl Club.
The Bulldogs began the tournament strong with a 303 on Sunday and maintained their lead with a closing round of 309. The competition featured 15 teams playing on a par-72 course spanning 5,829 yards. Ferris State ended the event +36 over the course of the 36 holes.
Kamryn Shannon from Ferris State stood out individually by earning runner-up honors with an even-par score of 144 across both rounds. She shot a 73 on Monday following her opening round of 71 on Sunday, placing her just four shots behind the individual medalist.
Aspen Sugars also performed well for FSU, tying for ninth place overall with identical rounds of 77 each day for a total score of 154. Hallie Crozier tied for 14th place with scores of 76 and 79 over two days to finish at 155.
Dani Staskowski finished tied for 30th overall at the tournament with consistent rounds of 80 each day, totaling a score of 160. Lizzie Anderson recorded scores of 79 and then an 82 to tie for the 34th spot overall at a total score of 161. Abby Grevel completed back-to-back rounds of 82 to tie for the position at number forty-one with an aggregate score of one hundred sixty-four.
This victory marks one among three top-three finishes for Ferris State this fall season. They were runners-up at Gilda's Club Laker Invite in Allendale and placed third at their own Lady Bulldog Invite in September. The Bulldogs will resume their schedule in March as they begin preparations for spring competitions.
