Ferris State leads CCHA with 20 all-academic selections in men's ice hockey

Big Rapids, Mich. - Ferris State University has achieved a significant milestone in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) with 20 of its men's ice hockey players named to the All-Academic Team. This achievement ties them with another team for the highest number of selections in the CCHA.

The criteria for being named to the CCHA's All-Academic Team include maintaining a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher. Eligible students are sophomores, juniors, seniors, and those at the graduate level. The players from Ferris State who made it to this list are Jacon Dirks, Drew Cooper, Mitch Deelstra, Kaleb Ergang, Luke Farthing, Noah Giesbrecht, Brenden MacLaren, Bradley Marek, Nick Nardecchia, Stepan Pokorny, Matt Slick, Logan Stein, Dallas Tulik, and Antonio Venuto.

In addition to these honors, six Ferris State players have been recognized as Scholar Athletes for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better. These athletes include Blake Evennou, Nick Grimaldi, Cade Kowalski, Austin McCarthy, Brenden Rons, and Ben Schultheis.

Most of these academic honorees from the 2022-23 season are expected to return for the upcoming 2023-24 season.
