PLAINFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich:  On Friday, March 24th, a 65-year-old Belmont woman was assaulted, strangled, and bound in her home by a man claiming to be a "hit-man".  This took place in the morning hours in the area of Van Dam Dr & Packer Dr. The victim was not located until an acquaintance arrived at the home around 10:00 AM and found her tied up.

KCSO investigators learned the suspect was armed with a pistol and threatened to kill the victim. At some point, the suspect choked the victim until she went unconscious.  The suspect stole items from the home to include credit cards and then fled.  He later used credit cards at nearby stores to make purchases.

Investigators quickly determined this was a targeted incident and identified the suspect and his vehicle. After a statewide bulletin was issued by detectives, the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle abandoned on a two-track in their jurisdiction.  After developing further information KCSO was able to locate the suspect walking near the intersection of Knapp St & Pettis Ave in Ada Township on Sunday afternoon.  A 54-year-old Grand Rapids man was arrested without incident and lodged at the Kent County Jail.

The man is expected to be arraigned in 63rd District Court on charges of  Armed Robbery, Home Invasion 1st Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm Less than Murder or by Strangulation, and two counts of felony firearm offenses.
