City of East Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on Feb 16.
Clogged storm drains can lead to street flooding, property damage and environmental contamination. With the rain and snow melt forecasted for Wednesday, we’re asking for resident’s assistance with clearing snow, ice and leaves from around a storm drain near your home so ground water can enter the storm sewer system. You can use a rake or shovel and stand on the curb to pull ice and debris up onto the lawn surface.
If you’re unable to safely clear the drain, contact our Public Works Department at 940-4870 to report large areas of standing water.
