City of East Grand Rapids issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.
Reminder that we no longer can accept shredded paper and plastic grocery bags in our curbside recycling collection. That's because the ReimagineTrash - Kent County Recycling & Education Center where we take our recyclables stopped accepting these items January 1.
Clean, dry plastic bags can be recycled at several local grocery stores. Before shredding paper, consider shredding only the sensitive information – your name, address, account numbers – and recycling the rest of the paper. If you have a compost, you can put your shredded paper there. For other tips on what to do with shredded paper, check out reimaginetrash.org/material/paper-shredding.
For more info on what can and can't be recycled through our curbside collection program, check out the guide below or visit reimaginetrash.org.
