City of Grandville issued the following announcement on Aug. 22.
Are you a Rosie the Riveter or a descendant of one? Don't know who Rosie was?
Rosie the Riveter was a collective name given to the women on the home front who went to work in industry jobs typically held by men. When the men were called to World War II, they left behind positions that needed to be filled in order to make supplies for the war.
Please join the City of Grandville and The American Legion Post 179 for the dedication of the"Rosie the Riveter" Memorial Garden in Wedgwood Park. The dedication of the Rosie the Riveter Rose Garden will take place on Tuesday, September 24th, 2019 at 9:30am at Wedgwood Park in Grandville. The public is invited to join us as we honor all the "Rosie's" out there in our area for thier contribution to the war effort during the war.
We want to hear your stories. We are looking for anyone who worked as a Rosie or is a descendant of a Rosie. If this is you, or someone you know, please contact Josh Meringa at Meringaj@cityofgrandville.com.
