Niles man sentenced for possessing gun linked to prior shootings
U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, Mark Totten, announced today that Lawrence Edward Slaughter II, 20, of Niles, has been sentenced to 42 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm connected to previous shootings and modified to function as a fully automatic weapon. This prosecution is part of an effort to disrupt gang-related retaliatory shootings in Niles that have resulted in two deaths and several injuries.

Benton Harbor felon sentenced under summer gun violence program
U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, Mark Totten, announced today that Darell William Craft, Jr., 30, of Benton Harbor, has been sentenced to 88 months in federal prison. Craft was convicted for possessing a stolen firearm with a high-capacity magazine as a felon while on probation for a prior conviction. U.S. District Court Judge Paul Maloney imposed a sentence above the advisory range, citing Craft as “a major risk to the law-abiding public.”

Member pleads guilty in child exploitation case involving violent online network
Richard Anthony Reyna Densmore, also known by his online alias "Rabid," has pleaded guilty to sexually exploiting a child. Densmore, 47, from Kaleva, Michigan, is a member of 764, a decentralized network of online groups that target children for violent self-harm and pornographic activities.

Man sentenced for tampering with Platte River at Sleeping Bear Dunes
GRAND RAPIDS, MICHIGAN — U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten announced today that Andrew Blair Howard, 63, of Sparta and Frankfort, Michigan, was sentenced to 60 months’ probation and ordered to pay $22,472.22 in restitution to the National Park Service and U.S. Coast Guard. Additionally, he must cover $3,947.71 in court-related costs. U.S. Magistrate Judge Ray Kent also banned Mr. Howard from all National Park Service properties as a term of his probation.

Final defendant sentenced in Grand Rapids-based drug trafficking conspiracy
U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan, Mark Totten, announced today that Anthony Martell Sanders, 30, of Grand Rapids, has been sentenced to 300 months in prison. Sanders is the last of four defendants convicted in a drug trafficking conspiracy that distributed fentanyl and methamphetamine throughout the Grand Rapids area.
