Congresswoman Announces $5 Million Grant to Enhance Urban Green Spaces in Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (MI-03) has announced a $5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) awarded to Friends of Grand Rapids Parks (FGRP). This funding will support the organization's efforts to cultivate urban green spaces and enhance parks in Grand Rapids.The grant will enable FGRP to plant nearly 16,000 new trees locally, create additional habitat, remove high-priority problem trees, and facilitate the planting of new trees. GR delegation returns from visit to first and latest Sister Cities
Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss has returned from a visit to Grand Rapids’ first Sister City – Ōmihachiman in Shiga Prefecture, Japan and latest Sister City – Gangnam-gu in Seoul, South Korea. She headed a 15-member delegation of Grand Rapids Sister Cities International, City leaders and community partners on the Asian trip to strengthen the Sister City relationships between Grand Rapids and its newest and oldest international partners.

GRPD recognized by MADD as an Outstanding Law Enforcement Agency
On Friday, June 23, GRPD was recognized by the Michigan chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) as one of two Outstanding Law Enforcement Agencies for 2022 during its annual award luncheon in Lansing. Additionally, GRPD Officer Kaylyn Stephens was recognized as one of four individual recipients of the Outstanding Officer Award for 2022.
