Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who represents Michigan’s 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed her constituents on social media about local issues and ongoing initiatives.
On October 31, 2025, Scholten posted a Halloween message highlighting concerns over rising consumer prices: "West Michigan, I’m wishing you and your family a Happy Halloween, but I know that the spookiest part of the holiday this year seems to be the cost of candy. As a founding member of the Lowering Costs Caucus, I’m determined to work to get prices down and keep life https://t.co/ZWaUCREXxA".
Later that day, she informed residents about an opportunity for students interested in military service: "West Michigan, my office is accepting service academy nominations until November 1. Click the link below to learn more about the process. https://t.co/9FMfXTKMm6" (October 31, 2025).
In another post on October 31, Scholten praised collaborative efforts among government agencies for their work on Grand Haven Harbor: "Ahead of schedule and done well: this is what happens when local, state, and federal partners team up and work together. I’m grateful to our partners in the effort to dredge the Grand Haven Harbor, and am proud of Team Scholten’s work to lead the charge in getting this essential".
Scholten has served as a U.S. Representative since 2023 after succeeding Peter Meijer. She was born in Grand Rapids in 1982 and continues to reside there. Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Gordon College (2004) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland, Baltimore (2011).
