Ferris State women's golf sits ninth after day one at Saint Leo Invitational

Ferris State University's women's golf team ended the first day of competition in ninth place at the Saint Leo University Invitational in Dade City, Florida. The event, which began on Monday, Oct. 20, features 11 teams, with Ferris State as the only participant from outside Florida or South Carolina.

After two rounds, the Bulldogs posted a team score of 609. They shot 301 in the opening round and 308 in the second. Senior Kamryn Shannon and sophomore Kylie Walker both tied for 19th individually after recording a total score of 149 (+5) over two rounds. Shannon started with an even-par 72 before finishing with a 77 (+5), while Walker improved her score from a 77 (+5) to an even-par 72.

Lizzie Anderson finished tied for 44th with a score of 157 (+13), shooting a 76 (+4) in the first round and an 81 (+9) in the second. Taylor Musselman and Ashley Thomasma each totaled 159 (+15), tying for 51st place. Musselman had rounds of 76 (+4) and 83 (+11), while Thomasma improved from an initial round of 81 (+9) to a second-round score of 78 (+6).

The Bulldogs will continue play on Tuesday, Oct. 21, starting at 8 a.m. Eastern Time as they look to move up in the standings.
