Ferris State men’s golf sits eighth after first day at Doc Spragg Invitational

The Ferris State University men's golf team is in eighth place after the first day of competition at the Doc Spragg Invitational, which began Monday at Findlay Country Club in Ohio.

Ferris State finished with a team score of 582 after two rounds, recording a 290 in the opening round and a 292 in the second. The team stands six-over par through 36 holes. Host school Findlay leads with a score of 566, while Missouri-St. Louis is second at 569. Seventeen teams are competing in the three-round tournament.

Kole Putnam led Ferris State on day one, tying for tenth place individually with a total score of 142, two-under par. He shot consecutive rounds of one-under 71.

Ben Miller is tied for nineteenth place after carding even-par rounds of 72 in both sessions for a total score of 144.

Sam Havey posted scores of 74 in each round and is tied for forty-second overall with a combined total of 148. Ethan Frost recorded scores of 76 and 75 to finish tied for fifty-ninth at 151.

Ray Dress rounded out the lineup for Ferris State, tying for sixty-sixth place with a total score of 152 after shooting a first-round 73 and a second-round 79.

The final round will take place Tuesday starting at 9 a.m. Eastern Time.
